Stormy Night

We had quite the rain storm last night....

After we finished watching Rules of Engagement(hilarious), I decided to head on to bed because after all it was 9:40. I have to get my sleep when I can right now since Grant has taken to waking up at 4 in the morning! Anyway, Aaron looks at his trusty iPhone and says, hmmm it's going to rain. And I was like, duh, they've been talking about it all day! Aaron likes to consider himself somewhat of a weather aficionado. He has a slight man crush on Delkus, Pete Delkus, that is. For those of you who are not residents in the DFW area, he is the meteorologist oh excuse me, HEAD meteorologist for channel 8. (Aaron gets upset when you just call him the weatherman) As I was saying Aaron loves his Delkus, can't go to bed until he has heard what he has to say for the day, even when it's July and the forecast is burning hot to extremely burning hot. He must hear it from Delkus! I've considered emailing Pete and telling him how much Aaron loves his forecasts and see if I could get him to make an appearance at his Birthday or something! I know Aaron would try to play it off all cool, but inside he would be jumping up and down and screaming like a 6 year old girl! So, you can see why I would assume that he would be paying attention to the impending weather. This is Pete, I suppose he's alright as far as weather people go. Personally I like Steve McCauley (he used to live in Amarillo)

Off to bed I go, Aaron says he's going to step outside for a minute and see if he can see some lightening, told you, total weather nerd! As I'm walking to bed I hear the TV say there have been reports of hail and it is headed to DFW. I think to myself.... well that's going to be a nice little wake up call for the boys! I'm also thinking that Aaron is aware of the situation as well. Mistake, on my part...

10:40 pm- Huge clap of thunder followed by what can only be described as bullets pinging against our windows, and we have several! I spring from our bed and start heading to the boys because I know any minute they are both going to be howling. Grant, of course, is the first to let out a scream. So I rush in there and swoop him up and try to comfort him, it was actually very pitiful. He was so tired and trying so hard to go back to sleep that he was doing all he could to stuff his pacifier in his mouth and falling over and crashing down on his mattress. Those of you have seen Grant, know that he is the proud owner of some very big baby blues! Now, with every clap of thunder or gush of rain or down pour of hail, his eyes would triple in size! (picture deer in the headlights, if you will!) Bless his heart, he is such a scaredy cat, I felt so sorry for him. He finally calmed down and we spent most of the night in our recliner in our bedroom, because he was not interested in being back in his bed. I'm sure you're wondering where was Rhett in all of this??? Sleeping, like a little angel!! Not one peep out of him, I don't know how he did it. But we were all very proud!

You are probably asking yourself, Where was Aaron? OUTSIDE. He's insane.

He comes into Grant's room after a few minutes and tells me it's hailing, and I'm thinking no kidding! Apparently, he decided to spend all his time outside and skipped Delkus' forecast. Well, not skipped, but watched through our windows in the back, so he couldn't hear what he was saying and therefore had no idea the Golf ball to Softball size hail was heading for our house. He tells me this morning that he and our neighbor were standing outside watching the whole thing. Of course, David(neighbor) new the hail was coming because he had the good sense to get inside before he was pelted! Aaron on the other hand, not a clue! He did say that he was proud of himself because he made it to our porch with minimal injuries. GOOD GRIEF! Anyway, we all seemed to survive and no apparent damage has been done....

I've attached a photo of a piece of hail from our front yard, a little larger than a golf ball!

Sorry there wasn't a whole lot about the boys, but this was a crazy night and I though you all might like to see the hail picture! I am also putting up some pictures of the boys playing today, my dad likes to see new pictures often! BTW: No video yet...

  4. Travis and Aaron should have been hanging out outside together. I was already in bed when the hail woke me up as well. Travis was on the porch watching out. We still have the golf ball hail in our freezer! How funny! Luckily our kiddos slept throught it...poor little Grant!
